The first phase of the CATL Guizhou New Energy Power and Energy Storage Battery Manufacturing Base is set to begin operating on Oct 27.
As of Oct 19, the supporting facilities in the base, such as the substation and cafeteria, were already in operation. Employees in the office area were bustling about making the final push for the official production launch.
The CATL Guizhou New Energy Power and Energy Storage Battery Manufacturing Base located in Guian New Area covers a total land area of approximately 1,435 mu (95.67 hectares). The project will consist of a power and energy storage battery manufacturing base with an annual production capacity of 60 GWh.
This project is divided into two phases. The first phase involves an approximate land area of 885 mu, with a total investment of approximately 7 billion yuan ($956.90 million). Construction officially commenced in early 2022.
The first phase currently uses the company's most advanced, high-speed, highly automated, and flexible production lines. The designed annual production capacity is 30 GWh for power and energy storage battery production lines and related facilities.
After achieving mass production, it will gradually establish an industrial system, contributing to the development of Guian into a production hub for new energy vehicles, batteries, and materials.
