Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is introducing new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data to help revolutionize the city's industrial sector and reduce the operational costs of enterprises.
Guiyang Hisense Electronics Co has introduced 30 intelligent robots and upgraded six of its production lines, reducing its number of workers from 1,000 to 500 and saving nearly 50 million yuan ($7.16 million) in labor costs.
These changes have also helped reduce operating costs by 26.78 percent and the product defect rate by 27.56 percent, while production efficiency has increased by a staggering 108.28 percent.
At Guizhou Hanfang Pharmaceutical Co, big data technology and automated industrial manufacturing systems have been integrated into the production, packaging, logistics and management of the company.
After Guizhou Hanfang Pharmaceutical Co applied an automatic control system to extract traditional Chinese medicine, the company was able to reduce its staff members by 50 percent while achieving a tenfold increase in production capacity. Additionally, quality control for medicines reached 100 percent.
Going forward, Guiyang municipal industry and information technology bureau will continue to promote the deep integration, mutual promotion and simultaneous improvement of the manufacturing industry and network platforms, while also providing industrial enterprises with intelligent applications to aid with R&D and design, manufacturing and operation management.
