Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have issued revised guidelines titled "Interim Implementation Measures for Supporting the Creation of National Enterprise Technology Centers and Other Innovation Platforms".
The revised measures provide subsidies of up to 2 million yuan ($281,940) for national-level platforms, including National Emerging Industry Innovation Centers and National Engineering Research Centers, and 50,000 to 500,000 yuan for provincial and city-level platforms.
The update builds on the 2021 guidelines, which primarily focused on engineering research centers but were found to be limited in scope. The new revisions expand the eligible platforms to include those approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, addressing gaps in coverage.
One key example of the policy's impact is the National Big Data Engineering Research Center, approved in 2016 and located in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone. This center, the first in China, is now recognized as a national hub for big data applications in government.
The revised guidelines streamline the application process and expand support for a wider range of innovation platforms, aiming to enhance technological development in the region. The measures take effect immediately.
