Dynamic duo Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have experienced a remarkable evolution in their digital economy over the past decade.

As of Aug 21, the Guiyang Data Exchange had welcomed a cumulative 885 data vendors and 206 data intermediaries – with a total of 2,194 products and 2,387 transactions valued at over 5.25 billion yuan ($736 million).

Established as China's first data trading venue, the exchange marks a significant milestone in the region's digital economy journey.

Since the inaugural Big Data Expo in 2015, Guiyang and Gui'an are widely said to have witnessed transformative growth.

What's more, the 2024 expo is understood to continue to push boundaries, focusing on cutting-edge topics and guiding global data industry trends.

This decade has seen the digital economy in Guiyang and Gui'an evolve from a nascent stage to a thriving sector, achieving significant milestones.

Last year, the digital economy contributed 52.9 percent to the region's GDP, emerging as a crucial driver for high-quality economic growth.

Gui'an's Guizhou Databao Network Technology Co, for instance, utilizes vast data resources to address various challenges – linking over 50 ministries and central business enterprises.

Moreover, the region is a key player in the national "channeling computing resources from the east to the west" project. Suffice it to say,  its computing power exceeds 38 Eflops and it has an impressive 90-percent focus on intelligent computing.

All in all, Guiyang and Gui'an continue to leverage their data assets, driving innovation and industry growth.
