Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – posted solid growth in the incomes of its urban and rural residents in the first half of 2024.
The city reported that the per capita disposable income of its urban residents hit 26,422 yuan ($3,684) in the period, up 4.4 percent year-on-year, while the average earning of its rural residents increased by 7.1 percent to 12,072 yuan.
Guiyang leads the province with the highest income levels, with urban residents earning 3,700 yuan above the provincial average, though still 1,139 yuan below the national average.
Rural incomes in Guiyang surpassed both provincial and national averages by 5,145 yuan and 800 yuan during the six months, respectively.
The income growth in Guiyang's urban areas outpaced the provincial average by 0.4 percentage points, while rural areas saw a 7.1-percent increase, higher than the national average by 0.3 percentage points.
In fact, across all revenue sources, Guiyang residents experienced growth, with expansion of wages being the primary contributor to the gain.
