Guiyang is set to lead the region's ambitious digital transformation, aiming to become one of the first cities in China with terabit connectivity.
The province is working hard to integrate the digital and traditional economies, advancing Guizhou to become what officials call a "Gigabit Province" and for Guiyang to emerge as a "Terabit City".
By 2025, Guizhou aims to have full gigabit fiber and 5G network coverage in its urban and rural areas.
Guiyang's fiber network will feature what's known as "terabit to the home" and mobile networks will offer terabit downlink speeds. The city will be equipped with top-tier network access and coverage capabilities.
In addition, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area will pioneer high-speed access technologies like 50G-PON, introducing terabit broadband services for both residential and business use.
Plans are that by 2025, mainstream broadband packages will offer speeds of 2,000 Mbps or higher, with 50G-PON ports reaching 2,000 and gigabit broadband users totaling 2.3 million.
The 5G networks will also benefit from a significant upgrade, with Guiyang and Gui'an leading in 5G-A deployments and aiming for 5G-A network coverage in key areas. To top it off, the region will have 800 5G-A capable base stations by 2025.
Additionally, Guiyang will develop a national-level computing base – including the Huawei Cloud and Telecom Computing Centers – aiming for a computational scale of over 200 EFLOPS and a storage capacity of 25 EB.
The aim is for the infrastructure to support efficient data exchanges and disaster recoveries – enhancing the region's position as a hub in West China's digital landscape.
