The gross domestic product or GDP of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – hit 250.36 billion yuan ($34.48 billion) in the first half of 2024, up 6 percent compared with the same period last year.
According to the Guiyang municipal bureau of statistics, breaking the performance down by sector revealed that the primary industry contributed 8.77 billion yuan in the period, growing by 4.1 percent.
The secondary industry added 93.69 billion yuan, representing a 6.9-percent increase. Meanwhile, the tertiary industry contributed 147.9 billion yuan, rising 5.6 percent.
The figures are said to highlight Guiyang's robust economic development and balanced growth across various industries.
Overall, the city's strategic investments and policy initiatives continued to drive its economic progress during the six months, ensuring sustained development and prosperity.
