Guiyang promotes project construction while controlling COVID-19 virus

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, encourages all construction units to restart major project while also maintaining its measures to prevent and control the novel coronavirus.

From January to February, Guiyang started 42 projects above 100 million yuan ($14.11 million), with a total investment of 79.7 billion yuan, of which 39 projects were started in February.

The projects include Evergrande Group's new energy vehicle component project in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, which has an investment of 5.5 billion yuan and will cover an area of 1.32 million square meters.

The project's construction will include vehicle component manufacturing workshops, an R&D center, warehouses, test tracks, dormitories, and other facilities. It is expected to produce 100,000 car bodies per year when finished, as well as provide 2,400 jobs, which is expected to promote the development of the automobile manufacturing industry and supporting industries in the area.

Another project is Evergrande's powertrain technology project, which will be constructed in Guiyang Economic & Technology Development Zone. With a first stage investment of 6 billion yuan, the project will include an R&D center, a logistics center, and manufacturing workshops, covering an area of 400,000 sq m.

The project will focus on hub motor manufacturing and the R&D of intelligent drive systems. Upon completion, it is expected to have an annual production capacity of 200,000 sets of hub motors, with an output value of 10 billion yuan per year, providing positions to over 1,500 people.

Inspur will construct a big data industrial park in Guiyang Economic & Technology Development Zone as well. The industrial park has an investment of 5.8 billion yuan, covering an area of 49,000 sq m.

When established, it will become one of Inspur's three major industrial bases in China and attract supporting industries like integrated chips, motherboard processing, the R&D of operating systems, storage media, and logistics to Guiyang, providing positions to over 1,500 people.
