A strawberry planting project in Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will soon open to the public.
The project is a result of the district's efforts to boost rural vitalization.
In May this year, Baiyun signed a deal with Beijing Jingqian Agricultural Science and Technology Co to register its subsidiary Guizhou Xingtongda Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co in Yanshanhong town, where it is responsible for the construction of a fruit and vegetable demonstration park.
The industrial park covers a total area of more than 280 mu (18.67 hectares) and will be constructed in three phases.
It will include a standardized strawberry planting base, grape planting base, and research base.

The strawberry planting base is part of the first phase of the project and covers an area of 40 mu.
Seven high-quality strawberry varieties have been planted in the base's greenhouses, which have been completed and put into use. The construction of the second and third phases also started in October.
It is estimated that the industrial park will realize an annual comprehensive output value of about 28 million yuan ($3.99 million), helping more than 100 surrounding farmers to develop farmhouse entertainment, souvenir sales and picking gardens.
