Baiyun district set to accelerate agricultural modernization

Baiyun district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is focusing on urban agriculture and implementing a range of industrial strengthening projects to accelerate agricultural modernization, according to local media reports.

In the first quarter of 2023, the production and planting of grain, fungi, vegetables, and fruits in the district saw significant growth.

In that three-month period, it completed 7,800 mu (520 hectares) of grain planting, accounting for 50.65 percent of the city's annual target of 15,400 mu.

Baiyun completed 410 metric tons of fruit production, fully realizing its goal for the quarter.

In terms of grain production, Baiyun district organized agricultural technicians at the district and township levels to give technical guidance to farmers.

At the same time, the district strengthened agricultural machinery management and agricultural services, and accelerated improvement of the mechanized and socialized service level of grain and oil production.

Baiyun has promoted the cultivation of edible fungi, and strengthened the preparation of related species and materials.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter, more than 1,200 metric tons of sawdust, 500 tons of cotton shells, and 500 tons of straw were reserved.
