Baiyun district in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, announced on April 21 that the 2023 Guiyang Baiyun International Kite Festival and Guiyang Baiyun's 14th Kite Festival will be held from April 28 to May 3.

A variety of activities will be held during the festival, some of which include the opening ceremony, the Guizhou Baiyun International Kite Festival, a national kite invitational tournament, Baiyun's first noctilucent kite festival, the Baiyun kite culture exhibition, and a kite carnival for children.

Guiyang Baiyun's Kite Festival is a traditional cultural tourism event that has been successfully held since 1989. Baiyun district was awarded the honorary title of "home of kite flying in western China" due to this event.

The year of 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the restoration of Baiyun as a district. This year's kite festival aims to increase the popularity of kite flying, and promote outdoor sports. It also aims to enhance the district's "Cool Guiyang, Quality Baiyun" brand.

The kite festival integrates culture, sports, art, tourism, and consumption. Four series of activities will be launched, including competitions, festivals, exhibitions, and conferences.

During the festival, 26 kite teams from the Chinese mainland and 16 kite teams from other areas will participate in the 15 scheduled traditional kite competitions and five kite performance projects.
