Guizhou Geely Engine Co becomes a national green factory

Guizhou Geely Engine Co, based in Baiyun district, Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was selected as a national green factory, according to the list released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Enterprises that win this honor will receive a green factory license, and can enjoy relevant preferential policies, such as exemption from inspection for environmental protection and unlimited production in winter.

A national green factory fully adheres to the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for Industrial Green Development. It comprehensively promotes green manufacturing, helps the industrial field to achieve its carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, and promotes green and sustainable development.

Guizhou Geely Engine Co was invested in and established in 2016 by Zhejiang Geely Automobile Co, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, with a total investment of 5 billion yuan ($727 million) and a registered capital of 338.46 million yuan.

In product research and development, the company follows the concept of environmental protection, and jointly develops the GEP3 series 1.5TD turbocharged engine with Volvo, an internationally renowned automobile brand.

At present, the company has achieved an annual production capacity of 400,000 units (sets) of engine parts, which is enough to supply both Geely and Volvo.

The company upgraded its production line last year and it is now expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 450,000 units (sets) of engines this year.
