Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, reported sound economic development in 2022, with its regional GDP hitting 28.22 billion yuan ($4.11 billion), a year-on-year growth of 5.2 percent.
The growth rate was higher than the province and city averages, and the second highest in the city.
Last year, the added value of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries in the district increased by 3.5 percent, 9.1 percent and 0.9 percent, respectively, while the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents increased by 5.7 percent and 6.3 percent, respectively.
The ecological environment of Baiyun district has been continuously improved, with a forest coverage rate of 45.8 percent and an excellent air quality rate of 98.6 percent, while the district's Yanshanhong has been rated as a provincial level garden town.
In addition, last year Baiyun district introduced 4,786 urgently-needed talents in fields such as big data and electronic information manufacturing, and trained 12,000 technical talents of various types.
Guiyang Yongqing Instrument Technology Co, located in Baiyun district, was approved to set up a national post-doctoral scientific research workstation. Three enterprises in the district passed the identification of Guizhou Provincial Enterprise Technology Center, and the number of high-tech enterprises increased to 72.
