Quality of life in Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, saw significant improvement in 2021.
Per capita disposable income of urban permanent residents in the district reached 42,858 yuan ($6,430.31), an increase of 8.8 percent over the previous year, while per capita disposable income of rural permanent residents came in at 23,547 yuan, an increase of 9.9 percent year-on-year.
Over the same period, the total retail sales of consumer goods hit 9.83 billion yuan, an increase of 11.8 percent over the previous year.
The value of goods consumed by urban residents was 9.82 billion yuan, up 11.8 percent over 2020, while the value of those consumed by rural residents was 14 million yuan, an increase of 12.2 percent.
Moreover, 6.98 million visits were made to Baiyun in 2021, generating a total of 7 billion yuan in tourism revenue for the district.
Furthermore, by the end of 2021, the total mileage of rural roads in Baiyun was 341.66 kilometers and 21 bus routes were operating.
It was also home to one culture center, one library and 233 medical institutions by the end of the year.
