More talents are settling in Baiyun district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to serve the district's economic and social development.
Statistics from a talent work meeting held in Baiyun on Dec 11 show that currently, the total number of highly-skilled workers in the district is around 91,000, accounting for about 20 percent of the district's population. This is an increase of roughly 21,000 since 2016.
Among them are 15,305 business management talents, 16,744 professional and technical talents, 53,837 skilled workers, and 4,093 rural technicians.
Since the start of this year, Baiyun has formulated and issued a series of policies, such as "Preferential Measures for the Craftsmanship Talent Town in Baiyun District to Promote Talent Accumulation" and the "Ten Measures for Technological Innovation in Baiyun District", to maximize the release of policy dividends and encourage workers with advanced skills to stay in Baiyun.
To improve its ability to attract workers with the right skills, Baiyun has established a number of talent platforms.
So far, the district has built two academician workstations, one key laboratory, five enterprise technology centers and two engineering research centers at the provincial level; as well as two enterprise technology centers, one incubator, and one expert workstation at the municipal level.
