Baiyun takes measures to boost mushroom industry

To promote the growth of the edible mushroom industry in a sustainable, rapid and healthy way, Baiyun Penglai Urban and Rural Development Co, located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has taken measures to boost business.

Among the measures is the establishment of a mushroom-oriented area at Penglai Fairyland industrial park, with the local government and market both expected to play a role in achieving industrial integration.

The plan will not only emphasizes the production, development and processing of rare edible fungis, also take into account the local lifestyles, customs, ecological conditions and cultures of the area. It will also draw on the resources of Penglai Fairyland – a 4A-level scenic spot – and include leisure, sightseeing and healthcare services.

Presently, five leading enterprises have been offered the opportunity to plant some precious and rare edible fungi at Penglai Fairyland.

A plantation covering 27,000 square meters has been completed in Dula village and Niuchang village and has produced about 13,750 kilograms of morel and 84,000 sticks of adictyophora rubrovolvata. With 15 intelligent mushroom houses now operating at the site, the yearly production of one million sticks of edible fungi is considered an inevitable reality.

Baiyun Penglai Urban and Rural Development Co has reached a preliminary agreement with its partners to promote soil reclamation and edible fungi products and service facilities.
