The district of Baiyun in Guiyang – capital of China's southwestern Guizhou province – has provided assistance to the province's Lewang town with 10.7 million yuan ($1.5 million) in infrastructure construction since September 2018.

To date, a dozen poverty alleviation projects have been completed in Lewang, located in Wangmo county, in the Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture administered by Guizhou.

Baiyun has helped Lewang attract an investment of 9 million yuan from special government funds and 1.7 million yuan from the other sources.

Since then, two solar power generators have been established in the local Dawan village and Liuli village, benefiting 98 households with 437 people.

Officials said that last year saw roads being built, the renovation of dilapidated houses and agricultural cultivation, involving some 206 households and 437 people. They added that seven poverty alleviation projects were completed.

At the same time, five companies and six government departments in Baiyun district were paired with 11 villages in Lewang town and supported village cooperatives to boost industries.

Rocked by the floods this year, Lewang has received  funds and assistance from its partners.
