Guizhou Folk Custom Museum

The museum, established in May 2004, focuses on the folk customs of Guizhou. It covers an area of 2,831 square meters, with seven exhibition halls housed within three-floor buildings.

It is currently the only museum telling the story of the colorful and time-honored folk customs of Guizhou. By virtue of local natural conditions and historical cultures, it has rich cultural tourism resources to put unreservedly on display.

With an exhibition area of 2,450 square meters, this museum is themed around the intangible cultures of Guizhou. Most of the exhibits are donated by the famous collector Zeng Xianyang, displaying the traditional costumes, articles for production and daily items of ethnic minority groups living in Guizhou. The museum has more than 500 collections. On display in the exhibition room are a number of rarities, with some of the display objects making their first public appearance.

In addition, the museum abandons more traditional and outdated models of engagement, and actively interacts with audiences. Visitors have the chance to get up close with a variety of folk handicrafts, such as weaving, wax printing, making silver ornaments, and cooking Ciba (cooked glutinous rice pounded into paste).

Also, the museum features stores selling local tourism products and combines the functions of exhibition, business and recreation together, leading it to be known as a "microcosm of Guizhou's culture".
