Baiyun to boost edible fungi industry

In order to boost poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, Baiyun district in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has established a work committee to develop the edible fungi industry.

The plans are for the creation of a production base covering an area of 100 mu (6.67 hectares) at the border of Shangshui village and Asuo village.

Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the construction of the production base was delayed until Feb 25.

The first stage of the production, with an investment of over 30 million yuan ($4.23 million), includes the installation of greenhouses and will be completed by the end of April. The second stage of the production base is under construction and will be completed by the end of June.

When complete, the construction base will cooperate with professional edible fungi companies, rural cooperatives and farmers to boost the development of the edible fungi industry in five townships and towns.
