Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, aims to improve the water environment of the Maijia River basin, which is part of the action plan for water pollution prevention and control.

Baiyun will launch a sewage treatment project in Mayan River by conducting field surveys to avoid direct discharge of sewage into the river. At present, sewage pipelines are being installed, while the foundation of lifting pumps are being constructed.

Baiyun will fix the problem of the mixed connection of rainwater and sewage pipe networks in the Dalu River basin. The first stage project started on Feb 29 and 71 percent of it has been completed.

The district will check all the sewage outlets along the Maijia River's Baiyun section, and make plans for the 14 outlets that exceeded the standard. In addition, water quality inspection will be carried out at random times, while outlets with no water discharge or that meet the standards will also be monitored.

The rainwater and sewage upstream of the Shawen ditch will be diverted. The sewage pipes will be connected to the sewage pipe network in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone and be treated in a sewage treatment plant.

The project has been started on March 20, of which currently 560 meters out of the total 700 m has been completed.

All the related department will cooperate with each other and complete projects to protect water resources, prevent water pollution, improve the water environment, as well as repair the water ecological environment.
