Hongyun community provides free medical service to seniors

A local hospital in Hongyun community in Baiyun district provided a free medical examination service for the elderly aged above 65-year-old on Nov 12, according to locals.

The free medical service was offered at the Lantian Day Care Center in Hongyun community.

Medical staff from the community hospital checked the physical condition of every elderly person, including taking their blood pressure and blood glucose. They made records for seniors taking part in the activity.

"It's very convenient to get a free medical check near where I live every year," said an old man surnamed Zhang.

The medical staff gave instructions to the old people, asking them to have a healthy and balanced diet and take more exercise.

The seniors were also encouraged to develop good living habits and they were given brochures on the prevention of disease.

The free physical examination and consultation can enhance the awareness of healthcare for the elderly, who think highly of the service, according to local officials.
