A medical team from the specialist Guiyang Baiyun Cardiovascular Hospital – also known as GBCH – carried out assistance and provided free medical services to Wangmo county on Nov 10, hospital officials said.
The medical team, consisting a total of 12 doctors, gave medical services to local residents at the Lewang Township Health Center in Wangmo county, Baiyun district, in southwestern Guizhou province.
Doctors provided medical services such as health consultations, blood pressure checks and diagnosis of chronic diseases.
On the day, more than 120 people came to consult the doctors. More than 200 brochures were distributed and about 1,000 yuan ($142.2) of drugs were given to local residents.
The doctors also gave local health workers instructions on how to write up medical histories, provide accurate treatments and improve first aid. Working staff from the township health center had an extensive discussion with the doctors, officials said.
The medical team was led by Yang Xiuchun, Party secretary of the GBCH and Cheng Shiqian, president of the hospital.
To date, more than 50 medical staff from the GBCH have been to the township health center to provide medical services. They were warmly welcomed and received praise from local residents, officials said.
GBCH is a subsidiary of Guiyang Urban Construction Investment Group. The group has actively strengthening its poverty relief work in recent years, especially in support of poverty-stricken people in rural areas.
