Water treatment project nears completion in Baiyun

Updated: 2019-09-23

The Qicai Lake sewage treatment plant recently began trial operations in Baiyun district, Guiyang, laying a foundation for the lake’s comprehensive treatment project.

The treatment project, under a PPP operation model, covers an area of 160 mu (10.67 hectares) with a total investment of 370 million yuan ($51.99 million). It will focus on removing the black and odorous water of the Lake, building a sewage treatment plant with daily treatment capacity of 20,000 square meters, and working on the lake’s ecological landscape.

Qicai Lake’s black and smelly water has plagued nearby residents for years.

To improve the urban and rural environment and promote high quality development, the Baiyun district will strive to make the project a demonstration undertaking for city management.

Construction of the project is basically completed, with landscaping and decoration work now underway. The district will continue to step up its coordination efforts to ensure the completion of the project by the end of March.
