Baiyun's urbanization process index ranks second in Guizhou in 2018

Baiyun district in Guiyang saw its urbanization process index reach 91.2 in 2018, second in Guizhou province, due to its overall urban,rural planning and improvement in urban functions and quality. 

Last year, the district made great efforts in infrastructure construction, including urban roads, rail traffic, and travel loop line construction, school and hospital expansion and renovation, and road improvement. The district added 1,639 new parking spaces. 

To improve the urban living environment, it renovated 2,399 shanty town houses in urban villages, 29 old residential communities, and 39 alleyways in 2018.In addition, the district constructed and renovated 15 urban public toilets and completed construction of two overpasses. 

To improve the living environment in rural areas, Baiyun district carried out rural reconstruction of three villages. It implemented two rural domestic garbage and domestic sewage treatment demonstration projects and conducted comprehensive environmental improvement in four villages. The Qicai Lake sewage treatment plant also began operation as scheduled.

In addition, the district accelerated the integration of urban and rural areas. It initiated rural reconstruction, improved drinking water safety, renovated power grid lines, and increased access to delivery outlets across towns and villages. Urban infrastructure and public service facilities were also extended to rural areas.
