Baiyun company takes concrete measures to prevent floods

The Baiyun Urban Construction Investment Group has made great efforts to boost the fight against floods -- aiming to improve the city's image and improve the investment environment, a company spokesman said.

The company in southwestern China's Guizhou province has conducted scientific analysis and made designs for projects to create flood discharge channels.

He said the group had taken into full considerations the landscape, type of soil water absorption as well as precipitation during rainy seasons.

The company said it provided for an exact width for the channel and riverbed elevation, thus comprehensively improving the flood resistance ability of the projects.

The company has also installed pipelines to avoid wastewater and rainwater from resting on farmlands and around buildings.

Meanwhile, the company has also launched a publicity campaign to raise the public's awareness of flood prevention.

The spokesman said it had tried to provide correct flood prevention methods for local residents.
