Shilong Changsheng Pepper, a kind of pepper grown in Guizhou's Baiyun district, is now extremely popular on e-commerce platforms.
The pepper is grown in Shilong village, Niuchang township in Baiyun, in Guiyang, capital of southwestern China's Guizhou province.
Up until Aug 28, 413 deals had been made on online e-commerce platforms since this year's pepper became mature.
The pepper grown in Shilong has passed an examination by a third party in Beijing, saying it has no heavy metal and pesticide residues.
Shilong village, where the pepper is grown, has a high altitude, which contributes to the good taste. In 2019, about 10 hectares of peppers were grown there, with the total output of 200,000 kg. More than 60 households participated in planting the pepper.

The local officials have tried hard to expand the sales channels for the pepper planters, both online and offline.
They pitched a promotion to online platforms such as Gogbuy and Daocunli. They also staged a marketing campaign on WeChat Moments and China's short video platform Douyin.
These peppers have been sold to more than 10 cities and provinces including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong.
With the help of government officials from Baiyun district, the peppers will also be sold to restaurants of governments and schools on a regular basis.
