Southwestern China's Yanshanhong township has tried its best to ensure its people are ok since the sudden temperature drop hit the province recently, local officials said.
The township, located in Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou province, has provided winter goods for poverty-stricken people in the area, including seniors, the disabled and children living in difficulty.
The township government officials sent them rice, oil and clothes for them to get through the winter.
The township also carried out search and rescue work for vagrants and beggars in key areas, especially in Baiyun park, Quanhu park and some underground garages.
In addition, the local government sent people to check if the electric wires and water pipes were working well in the town.
They tried to make repairs as soon as they found any problems. Officials said the local government has also stored enough coal and candles in case of power failure.
