Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will push forward its coordinated development with Guian New Area. The national-level new area in Guizhou will build urban economic circles and drive high-quality economic growth, said the city's mayor Chen Yan at the fifth session of Guiyang's 14th People's Congress on May 13.

Guiyang and Guian New Area boast respective advantages, according to the local government. "Guiyang serves as an engine for the province's development, while Guian New Area enjoys strong financial and policy support from the provincial and central governments," said an official.

The two regions will combine their strengths to establish six integrated systems, which include an interconnected road network.

Guantan Road, measuring 11.98 kilometers, is now under construction. According to the plan, it is set to open in June 2021.

The resulting travel time between Guiyang's Guanshanhu district and Guian New Area is set to be halved from more than 30 minutes to 16.

Guiyang will incorporate the new area into its half-hour traffic circle at that time, said local officials. They added that other transport projects underway include the Guian Railway Station and the urban express railway, which will all contribute to regional integration.

Guian New Area has a picturesque natural environment.

Based on this advanced infrastructure, the city will focus on the integrated growth of modern industries with big data as the key.

Guiyang has been committed to remaining competitive in the sector of big data, said the city government.

Statistics showed that Guiyang has built 10 big data industrial parks, attracting more than 1,600 big data companies.

To further cultivate cross-regional industrial clusters of big data, the two sides will work together to complete the construction of data centers for China State Railway Group, the People's Bank of China and the Ministry of Public Security.

Additionally, Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Guiyang Economic-Technological Development Area will set up branches in Guian New Area.

Efforts will also be made to develop a unified public service system so that residents in the two regions can enjoy greater convenience.

The city government will take charge of the social administration of Guian New Area.

Also, the two sides are stepping up cooperation in information sharing and set the same standards for public services.

As progress has been made in updating the online and offline public service platforms, the first batch of around 100 items of business which could only be handled locally are to be processed both in Guiyang and Guian soon, said the city government.

The city will also collaborate with Guian New Area on environmental protection, the integrated labor market and the balanced development of urban and rural areas.
